Interpreters work with spoken or sign language. They convert from one language to another through spoken word.

Example: A native Arabic speaker has a doctor’s appointment and needs an interpreter’s assistance. The interpreter listens to the patient and converts what is said to English for the doctor. What the doctor says in English is converted to Arabic for the patient.
