Job Description

The ITS Director oversees daily operations, including budgeting, staffing, planning, and team management. They develop new programs, secure funding, and manage interpreter and translator training. The role includes strategic planning, community engagement, and building relationships with stakeholders. The ITS Director ensures financial sustainability, assesses contractors’ performance, and provides excellent customer service. They also act as a backup for other departmental roles.

Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership and Planning
    • Oversee tactical and strategic planning for department sustainability and mission fulfillment.
    • Collaborate with TLC Leadership to align resources and evaluate long-term impact.
  2. Team Management and Supervision
    • Manage and prioritize departmental activities.
    • Supervise project managers, delegation of tasks, and oversight of performance.
  3. Translation and Interpretation Services
    • Direct interpretation services, including interpreter recruitment, screening, training, and onboarding.
    • Evaluate interpreter availability and match client needs.
  4. Curriculum and Training Development
    • Collaborate on and facilitate curriculum and training development for interpreters and stakeholders.
    • Manage interpreter training workshops and skill-building initiatives.
  5. Client and Stakeholder Relations
    • Actively establish and maintain business relationships with clients and partners.
    • Ensure satisfaction through surveys and quality assessments.
  6. Contract and Financial Oversight
    • Negotiate contracts with sustainable terms.
    • Monitor billing, payments, and database integrity for accurate accounting.
  7. Operational Oversight
    • Supervise key processes, including invoicing, corrective accounting actions, and database management.
    • Verify accuracy and completion of documentation for services.
  8. Professional Development
    • Provide staff and interpreters with opportunities for training and growth.
    • Advise interpreters on learning and credentialing pathways.
  9. Quality Assurance and Compliance
    • Address client or contractor performance issues and ensure compliance with standards.
    • Observe interpretation appointments and take corrective actions as needed.
  10. Metrics and Reporting
    • Address client or contractor performance issues and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

Education:   

Master’s Degree in Language, Curriculum Development, Interpretation/Translation, or other related field

 

Experience:     

4+ years of experience in the language industry or project management

2+ years of experience as interpreter or translator in the field

2+ years of curriculum development

 

Skills:  

-Advanced knowledge of Project Management practices.

-Proficient knowledge of second language; capable of facilitating and managing multicultural/multilingual activities.

-Ability to multi-task, including the use of multiple databases and MS-Office suite.

-Effective organizational skills.

-Efficient communication skills with multiple stakeholders.

-Ability to develop rapport with multicultural staff and contractors

-Knowledge of performance evaluation and assessments.

-Strength in multimedia communications: timely and thoroughly.

-Ability to create and facilitate curriculum related to professional development
