TLC Presents Spanish for Law Enforcement in Bristol

Published:

Law enforcement officers in Bristol recently completed the Tennessee Language Center’s Spanish for Law Enforcement training—a hands-on course built specifically for real-world policing situations. Offered in partnership with the Law Enforcement Innovation Center, the class equips officers with practical Spanish vocabulary and communication strategies they can immediately apply during traffic stops, interviews, emergencies, and de-escalation efforts.

Through scenario-based instruction and interactive practice - like this role play for a suspect on the ground - participants built confidence giving commands, asking key questions, and navigating culturally sensitive situations.

Funded by the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs Violent Crime Intervention Fund, this training reflects a proactive commitment to officer safety, stronger communication, and building trust with Tennessee’s growing Spanish-speaking communities.
